Development Opportunity for Middle Managers in Museums

The East of Scotland Museums Partnership (ESMP) ran a Management Development Training Programme last year funded by the MGS Skills Development Fund. The programme consisted of 4 workshops scheduled 6 weeks apart which allowed for delivery of actions and improved management practice to take place between sessions. The programme was concluded through a feedback and celebration event.IMG_1306One participant, Emma Peattie summed up her experience of the programme:

I found the Management Development Programme to be both enjoyable and stimulating . I now feel a lot more confident about my role as a manager and both my staff and my line manager have commented on the positive progress they have seen. In particular, I now feel better able to prioritise my work  and more effectively manage time. Working in a small museums service can at times feel isolating. The opportunity to share experiences and thoughts with others has therefore been invaluable and I hope there will be further opportunities to work with the group.  Since finishing the programme there have been changes to my role and I have been given more responsibility. I have felt able to embrace this with confidence and feel optimistic about taking my Museums Service forward in the months to come.

Funding is now available to run this programme for a 2nd time. If you are part of a forum or network and are interested in finding out more information, please contact Wendy West, Skills Development Manager,  or call on 0131 550 4131
