Often when you hear us talk about recognition, it’s usually in conjunction with the word “scheme”. In this month’s Connect we want to focus on the gaining recognition from achievement and success.
We’ve noticed as part of our ongoing work to help museums become better advocates of the important work they do, that we could all do better at talking about our success stories. However more than that, we need to do better at celebrating those successes too.
Connect recently interviewed Chris Henry, Director of Heritage, at Surgeons’ Hall Museums to talk about The Lister Project. An ambitious 18 month project to fully refurbish the museums and allow more of their collections to be on public display. After it’s completion in 2015 the project has gone on to win numerous awards, including the Museums + Heritage Award for Best Permanent Exhibition 2016.
Watch the interview in full to learn more about the importance of this kind of recognition, both for museums and their staff.
