Discovering Dodos at Brodick Castle

Connect January 2017

If you managed to catch some of the press coverage of the induction of the latest collection to the Recognition Scheme, you’ll have noticed a very special looking Dodo decanter featured in the press images with Helen Wyld, Curator for The National Trust for Scotland. Well here at Connect we got to see that very special decanter in person in November when we visited the latest collection to be Recognised as Nationally Significant to Scotland at Brodick Castle on the Isle of Arran. Views of the gorgeous snow capped Goatfell from the castle gardens were a bonus to the incredible collection inside.

We spoke to Helen about the what makes the collection at Brodick Castle so unique, the experience of applying to the Recognition Scheme and what’s next for the team caring for Brodick’s treasures.
