Over the past year we have been working with Collections Trust on a pilot project with four member museums, using the Revisiting Collections Methodology to reveal and record new information about existing collections.
Revisiting Collections provides a fresh approach to engaging local communities with collections, and to enabling the creation of user-generated information, knowledge and interpretation, helping museums to develop new audiences.
The pilot finished in March 2010 but if you would like to find out more about what’s been happening, you can click on the case study on the collections development pages of the website. Alternatively, you can find an introduction to the UK-wide Revisiting Collections project, along with information on how to get started, on Collections Link – where you can also now join the Revisiting Collections Network and connect with other people using the methodology.
MGS are planning to hold an additional training workshop in how to use the Revisiting Collections toolkit in the Autumn – we’ll advertise the details as soon as we can but if you’d like to register your interest in attending this workshop, please feel free to contact me by comment or via our website.
