MGS is working with the sector to revive the Textile Group, which was previously set up to promote collaboration among collection managers and users of the Scottish Textile Heritage Online website. On Tuesday 21st September, we will be holding the inaugural event at the University of Dundee, and we invite you to come along to discuss your ideas for a textile network and to meet the people working within your specialism across the sector.
The event will explore the various network models around which the group might form and will encourage discussion around current priorities and opportunities within the field of dress and textiles, what the key focus of the group should be and how best to sustain it long-term.
This free event is aimed at all sector practitioners working with dress and textiles collections, whether in a museum, library or archive capacity; as well as those responsible for science and technology and social history collections containing objects relevant to the study of dress and textiles. We also welcome those working within the industry, academics and students of dress, textiles and social history.
More information will follow regarding the programme for the day but in the meantime if you would like to book your place, please contact Sue Wheeler; or for more information feel free to contact me via comment or via our website.
