I came across this really cool website the other day and had to post here to alert people to it. The Women of Scotland is a joint project developed by Women’s History Scotland, Glasgow Women’s Library and Girlguiding Scotland. So what’s it all about? Well, the idea is to get memorials to women throughout Scotland located and recorded.
The project members have already made a start, but they need your help to find and record more of the memorials. The end product will be a great resource that everyone can use to find out more about the contribution and achievements of women in Scotland.
So far, women included on the website range from Elsie Inglis to Jean Armour to St Margaret. These names were familiar to me, but there are plenty of other women on there I hadn’t heard of. So check it out, you’re bound to learn something new about some of the amazing women who have shaped Scotland, and you may even have a memorial to add to the list.
