Early bird conference tickets now on sale

Early bird tickets are now on sale for our 2017 conference, Inequalities: Bridging the Gap, on Thursday 12 October 2017 at the John McIntyre Conference Centre at Pollock Halls in Edinburgh.

The day will be a stimulating, cost-effective platform through which Scotland’s museums and galleries can network, keep up with current thinking and trends and develop their knowledge. This year attendees can choose from purchasing a stand-alone ticket or one of our discounted ticket bundles. Ticket bundles include full access to conference papers, videos and presentations plus a discount for our next conference in 2019.

The conference will create opportunities for knowledge exchange between museums and galleries and other sectors, and there will be an even bigger and better marketplace of organisations that can support our sector. We’ll also be hosting our first networking evening on Wednesday 11 October in the newly-refurbished St Cecilia’s Hall, to which all attendees are invited for some additional socialising, networking and entertainment.

The overarching theme of our 2017 Conference, Inequalities: Bridging the Gap, will be the work that museums are doing to address inequalities, helping the sector to develop and work towards delivering against National Strategy aims and objectives. The day will be organised around three sub-themes:

  • Education: both formal and informal learning
  • Health: including well-being
  • Widening access: including involving and engaging communities

The day will consist of a mix of presentations, keynotes and parallel sessions. We’re excited to announce that the first of our keynote presenters will be Dr Adele Patrick from Glasgow Women’s Library, who’ll present us with a challenging and thought-provoking look at GWL’s grassroots approach to inequalities.

Breakout sessions will be led by representatives from a wide range of organisations including VocalEyes, the Museums Association, National Galleries of Scotland, Glasgow Life, the National Trust for Scotland, the Scottish Refugee Council and many more.

Tickets are available through Eventbrite.
