A quick conglomeration of ideas and resources for anyone interested in the interaction of museums and the Internet and the future:
Monday 28th February sees an online Webcast (2:30 – 3:15) by 4TM which aims to share more about how Social Media works for those people who do not have time to play with it themselves. Go see the brief.
MuseumNext is coming to Edinburgh on 26 & 27th May. The conference looks at how museums and galleries can benefit from new technology and the latest web trends. This two-day conference will highlight best practice and act as a platform to ask ‘what next? Early bird rates still available, and consider giving us a call about applying for a grant to assist funding.
A newsletter I recently subscribed to is Social Media Examiner, a daily bite of all things Social Media. Today’s email reviewed Radian6, a tool for monitoring Social Media content. Probably too big a tool for most but interesting nonetheless.
Old fashioned JiscMail continues to be an enormous help in keeping up to date with the avant-garde activities out there, as well as hearing what people’s questions are in their daily routine. Whether it is MCG (Museums Computer Group) or GEM (Group for Education in Museums) most bases are covered.
With Festival of Museums gathering pace, we launched the Facebook page and home page for the public to sign up this week. If you want to Like us on Facebook or are interested in getting the newsletter about Festival of Museums please spread to your friends and colleagues.
Oh, all these things are FREE, but their value comes in you being able to identify which are useful to you and how long you spend using them, over to you.
