Yesterday over 80 of our members gathered in the Albert Halls in the shadow of Stirling Castle to make MGS history at officially the best attended AGM ever. Members came, members saw, they conquered the huge pile of bacon rolls and they listened to a fantastic presentation by Adrian Babbidge. There was also a lot of talking – to friends old and new, about the challenges and opportunities facing the museum sector today. A report on discussions will be compiled and sent to the Scottish Government led Think Tank.
The day ended with a trip to the Stirling Smith Art Gallery & Museum which for the first time in its 135 year old history opened its doors on a Monday, so thanks are due to Dr Elspeth King and all the volunteers for showing members and staff round and feeding everyone such delicious cake. Feedback from members so far has been very positive and we would welcome any additional comments, so if you were in Stirling yesterday please feel free to use the blog to let us know what you thought.
