And the award goes to …

Arts & Business Awards Evening

Glasgow recently hosted the MOBOs and Edinburgh never wishing to be outdone by her sister city hosted the Arts & Business Scotland Awards the following evening. The evening celebrated some of the excellent business and arts partnerships that took place in the 12 months to March 2009.  Museums Galleries Scotland were invited and four of us donned our ‘party’ outfits and headed to the beautifully (almost) refurbished Usher Hall for the ceremony.

Michael Russell, MSP, Minister for Culture, etc. was there to present the awards and Janice Forsyth from Radio Cafe provided the MC segues. I have a working partnership with Arts & Business Scotland which made the mingling and networking more enjoyable than usual, but of more interest were MGS members who were up for awards.

MGS Members  nominated for Arts & Business Scotland Awards 2009:

Community Award: Bank of Scotland and National Galleries of Scotland

Young People Award: Bank of Scotland and National Galleries of Scotland

New or Returning Sponsor Award: The Capita Group Plc and Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum; Maxwell MacLaurin and The Glasgow School of Art

Sustainability Award: Scottish Widows Plc and National Galleries of Scotland

Cultural Branding Award: Lloyds TSB and National Galleries of Scotland

Congratulations to Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum, National Galleries of Scotland and Glasgow School of Art who were all commended for their work. Further detail of the nominations and the winners is available on Arts & Business’ webpage here.
